Poem 3: Water

By Alejandra Medina

I want to float in

The seas

And listen to the waves.

I want to breath in

The water

And swim around in peace.

I want to venture in

The ocean

And describe the unknown sights.

But that will never happen.

For Air’s invisible hands

will choke me

The waves of the sea

Will hold me down

And the darkness

Will never lend me sight.

I want to be in the water

But the water does not want me.

I want to be in the water

But my body does not want me to.

I want to be in the water

But the land does not want me to go.

I want to relax

But nature won’t allow that.
